Formed in 1992 among a group of Young Turks, that were dissatisfied with the misrepresentation and lack of equal coverage of Turkiye during the 92' Olympics, Young Turks first organized a protest against NBC Studios and Bob Costas. This lead to men and women, with equal values and ideals, that were fed up with Anti-Turkish groups, mainly Greek and Armenian groups that openly falsely demonized "anything and everything Turkish". Stemming from food, music, history, and to widespread media. This group soon attracted many that felt the need to express their frustation with the inactivity of local Turks and demonizers with a wider agenda that were not often confronted. For example, Greeks and Armenians regularly attacked women, children and elders with stones and spits when they were walking in remote areas during the annual Turkish American Day Parades. Violence was eliminated through a show of solidarity between Turks. |
